To make your journey to university as smooth as possible, these webpages will guide you through the steps you need to take in the lead-up to starting your course and answer any questions you have about what to expect from enrolment and Welcome and Induction Week.

Key dates

For most courses*, the dates to put in your diary are:

  • Enrolment: You will be invited to complete enrolment from 31 August
  • Welcome Week: Monday 18 September to Friday 22 September
  • Teaching starts: Monday 25 September

*If you're studying one of the below courses, your course starts earlier than Monday 18 September. Your faculty will contact you with more information about your course induction.

  • PGCE (all routes)
  • Midwifery (BMid and MMid)
  • Foundation Diploma in Art, Design & Media Practice
  • Foundation Degree Nursing Associate (Apprenticeship)
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree
  • All postgraduate research courses.

What to do before you arrive

Your pre-arrival checklist

Knowing what you need to do before you arrive at university, and when you need to do it, can feel confusing. To ensure you're ready to start Kingston feeling prepared, follow the appropriate pre-arrival checklist.

I am an undergraduate student

Depending on whether you are a Home or International undergraduate student, the things you need to do before you arrive are different. You can find these different tasks below.

Home undergraduate students

  4. Familiarise yourself with your Welcome and Induction

International undergraduate students

I am a postgraduate student

  3. Familiarise yourself with your Welcome and Induction
  4. Ensure you have your funding in place
  5. Confirm your accommodation options
  6. Apply for student finance
  7. Prepare for enrolment
  8. Check out the digital tools you'll be using

International postgraduate students

  1. Join our exclusive Facebook group for new students
  2. Accept your offer: Make sure you have accepted your offer and sent us any conditional offer requirements
  3. Ensure you have your funding in place
  4. Confirm your accommodation options
  5. Check if you need to apply for a Student Visa
  6. Pay your deposit and request your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  7. Apply for your Student Visa (if required)
  8. Prepare for enrolment
  9. Familiarise yourself with your Welcome and Induction
  10. Plan your travel to the UK and transfer from the airport
  11. Check out the digital tools you'll be using
