Find the right course for you

Take plenty of time to decide exactly what you would like to study and at which university. We want to make sure that Kingston University is the right place for you!

Which course?

When you're deciding which course to study, think about:

• what you enjoy and are good at – this is what you'll be happiest and most successful studying;
• the content of the course – this can differ between universities;
• the teaching methods – decide whether exams, continuous assessment or project work best suit you;
• study choices – if you want to study part-time, on a joint honours course or on a foundation programme, for example; and
• how it will help your future career – look out for workplace skills, work placements or time abroad. If you are already in employment, you might consider an employer-funded degree apprenticeship programme.

Which university?

When you're deciding which university to choose, think about:

• location – do you prefer to be in the city or the countryside?
• the cost of living – find a location that suits your budget;
• graduate employment figures – find a university with a good track record in your chosen field
• student services – a good support structure will make your university experience more enjoyable.

What are the entry requirements?

We accept students from a range of learning backgrounds at Kingston University. You might have formal qualifications, such as exams taken at school, or you might show your knowledge in another way. But remember:

• our courses are taught in English, so you need to be competent in the language
• you should usually be at least 18 years old on 1 September of your first year (there is no upper age limit for admission)
• check our course description pages for individual course requirements.

If you have achieved a qualification such as a Foundation Degree or HND, or gained credit from another higher education provider, you may be able to use this either as an entry qualification, or to put towards an award from Kingston University.

Mature students

We welcome applications from mature students (those aged 21 or over) and will consider your application on its own merits. We know mature students often have other commitments so we help you achieve your ambitions through:

• flexible entry requirements
• part-time degrees
• foundation programmes
• support and guidance tailored to mature students.

Please speak to the course administrator to discuss entry requirements (you can find their details on the relevant course page). If you don't have the standard qualifications, there are Access to Higher Education courses and foundation courses to help you to reach the required level.
