Most undergraduate courses will recognise and support study or work abroad through the University's Study Abroad programme or the Erasmus programme.
"I know that by studying abroad I have increased my employability as well as begun to build my international professional network" – Alberto Mendes BSc (Hons) International Business with Business Experience, studied abroad in France.
The decision to study abroad can be life changing – you'll get to travel, make friends from all over the world, learn a new language, improve your self-confidence and significantly improve your employability. Less than 8% of UK students study abroad as part of their degree, so this kind of experience puts you among an elite group of enterprising students.
But isn't it expensive? Not at all:
Students can choose to study abroad in over 30 countries, spanning five continents.
As part of the Erasmus exchange programme, students studying at one of our partner universities across Europe receive a monthly grant (and many modules are taught in English).
Outside Europe, students may choose from universities in Australia, Barbados, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago and the USA.
If you secure a work placement in Europe and it is recognised by your faculty, you can apply for an Erasmus grant – this can be in addition to any salary offered by your employer. Depending on your course and faculty approval, your European work placement may be added to an international study exchange or be a stand-alone work placement during a summer break or your third year.

If you're already studying at Kingston, find out more on My Kingston (go to My Support, then the International section).
Shorter-term overseas field trips and other opportunities may also be available on your course.
