Editor: content and pedagogy at BBC Worldwide in Hong Kong.
I completed my PGCE at Kingston in 2007. It was a very full-on course, but the lecturers made the lessons really good fun and there was lots of support on offer throughout the school placements.
I was living at home with my parents and could drive to Kingston easily from there. The PGCE course had been recommended by a few different colleagues and I liked its proximity to London too.
Busy, friendly and supportive.
Yes, I've kept in touch with a few buddies from my PGCE. I actually went out to visit primary schools in Uganda with some uni friends straight after the course finished. The trip was organised through the University and was a really amazing experience, of which I have very fond memories.
Teach. I have to teach from time to time in my current job, which is great. I miss being in the classroom but it really is full on!
Moving abroad and setting up a new life in Hong Kong.
I know it's boring but start saving money, asap.
Skyping with my 6 month old niece.
Hiking over to a nice beach with friends (probably Tai Long Wan out in the new Territories of Hong Kong). Then having a swim and a big BBQ and if it isn't hot, camping over night on the beach. Followed by a relaxing Sunday, reading a good book and drinking lots of tea.
Uhh, Bear Grylls?
Kafka on the Shore or anything by Haruki Murakami. I can read his books over and over and find something new every time.
Spirited Away because it's so calming and beautiful.
A lifetime's supply of cheese and plenty of tea bags (can I have two?).
When I first arrived in Hong Kong I took a part time job as a children's party entertainer. I went by the name of Princess Emily, it was a bit of a low point, but I can laugh about it now!
