Mission

• Our mission is to deliver applied health and social care research, as well as research pertaining to the education of healthcare professionals, which addresses the key questions and concerns of those using, providing, and commissioning health and social care services.
• Our vision is to work inter-professionally to improve health and social care outcomes for all social groups irrespective of class, gender, age, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, and mental or physical health needs. We will do this through undertaking and showcasing research that will enhance evidence-based education, promoting public engagement and maximising the effective organisation and delivery of health and social care services.

Aims and objectives

• address health and social care questions of importance to the public, patients, professionals, service managers, commissioners and policy makers
• contribute to the advancement of knowledge in health and social care professional practice, services and policy in order to achieve a national and international reputation for research excellence
• promote a positive and vibrant environment for research scholarship that promotes the research capacity of our academics and the professional communities and values research engagement among academics, students and our wider communities
• increase our research grant and contract income; the volume and quality of both our research publications and research degree students
• deliver impact for the public, professional practice, services, education and policy
