Library services for visitors

Members of the public – booking a study space

Members of the public are welcome to visit our library buildings and use our cafes. However to help us manage capacity in our library buildings we have certain restrictions regarding the use of our study spaces.

Study space usage from 11 June 2023 to 21 April 2024

There is limited availability of library study spaces to members of the public (over the age of 16). These study spaces are in designated areas of the library and must be booked on the day using our booking system.

• Please note bookings can currently only be made on the day and there is limited capacity for each day.
• On the day of your visit, upon entering the library building we ask that you speak to a member of Reception or Information Centre team, to make your booking for the day.
• You will receive printed receipt for confirmation of your study space booking.
• Each booking is for one day – All visitors are requested to leave our libraries at closing time or by 21.00 when Night Opening is in operation.
• You must be 16 years or over to book a visitor study space
• All visitors must abide by our Library rules and regulations and building health and safety regulations.
• Information gathered as part of this service will be used in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and the Kingston University Privacy Policy to administer your use of Library facilities. Data may be passed to other University departments where necessary as part of the management of our services.
• Capacity for each library may be subject to change.
• We do not offer any print or copy services to visitors.
• We cannot offer access to computing facilities or e-resources to visitors.

Kingston University students and staff and invited guests are not required to book study spaces.

Visitor Study Space capacity is set as follows:

• PR Library / Town House: 50 study spaces (Designated area – 1st Floor Shared learning space)
• Kingston Hill Library: 25 study spaces (Designated area – 1st floor Silent area)
• Knights Park Library: 5 study spaces (Designated area – General group study area)
• Roehampton Vale Library: 5 study spaces (Designated area – General group study area)

Study space usage at key times of the academic year – from 22 April to 9 June 2024

During select key times of the year only Kingston University staff and students along with invited guests are allowed into our Library buildings to use study spaces in our libraries.

Visitors are still welcome to use our cafes and have a look around but are not allowed to use our study spaces. Study space bookings are not available during this period. During these select key times we may also restrict the number of entrances used to access our library buildings.
