About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Simulated Learning and Clinical Skills and currently co lead of the final year practice module. My role includes working with the whole team to develop and implement the clinical skills curriculum and simulated learning experiences across the BSc and MSc pre-registration nursing programmes.

My background is in adult nursing, where after working in different clinical areas I found my passion for emergency nursing at St Thomas Hospital London. My last clinical position was as a Senior Sister in St Thomas Hospital A&E department. In 2008, whilst maintaining my Senior Sister role in A&E I started working part time in Medical Education at Kings College London. My role was a clinical skills and communication skills tutor for all years of the MBBS programme. This role gave me opportunities to develop my interest in teaching and learning and the use of simulation pedagogy to develop various learning experiences. My move to Kingston full time facilitated the transition from practice to Nurse Education.

I have particular interest in communication skills and inter/intra professional education and have developed curriculum simulated learning within both these areas. I am currently working on enhancing student engagement with scenario writing for simulations, particularly looking at communication skills.
