Orientation for Study Abroad and International Exchange Students

We realise that arriving in a new country and meeting new people may be initially confusing and stressful as well as exciting. Our aim is to make sure that you are prepared for studying at Kingston by arranging a specific tailored orientation session. This will take place as follows:

  • Date: Friday 15 September at 12.30pm
  • Location: The Clattern Lecture Theatre, Ground Floor, Main Building, Penrhyn Road Campus

Topics normally covered include:

  • meeting some of the Study Abroad International Learning (SAIL) Office  team, including their contact details and availability
  • introduction to adjusting to successful learning and teaching in the UK/Kingston system
  • discussing study plans (your classes) and timetables
  • introducing the IT and library services
  • finding out more about a wide range of tours around the UK and in Europe offered by a local tour company.

Please note: Erasmus/European Exchange students should not attend this session as they have their own tailored session by SAIL also on 15 September and a specific faculty induction during Welcome Week (18 - 22 September).

Enrolment is the event when you confirm your status as a Kingston University student and will receive your student identity card. There are two stages, the first part of which is done online and the second in-person (identity check).

It is completely unrelated to registering in individual modules (or 'classes', which is fully discussed at the SAIL orientation.
