Fulham Football Club

Kingston University is working with Fulham Football Club on a range of sport and education initiatives. The partnership offers benefits for both parties, with the club tapping into academic expertise while offering a range of opportunities for the University's students and staff.

Student projects

• Sport journalism students have visited Fulham to practise their reporting skills and interview techniques, including interviewing England international midfielder, Scott Parker.
• Internship opportunities for students from fields as diverse as computer science, business and marketing.

Training and courses

• Staff at Fulham have been encouraged to take advantage of tailored management and personal development training opportunities at Kingston Business School.
• We have partnered in the launch of a new sports coaching foundation degree. This course will act as a progression opportunity for young people doing coaching qualifications with the Fulham Football Club Foundation, and in turn they will offer placement opportunities to students.

Research and community

• We are working with The Fulham Foundation, Fulham FC's community sports charity, on a pilot AccessHE programme, using football to raise awareness of all the benefits a degree has to offer youngsters who come from families with no previous experience of university education.
• University researchers support the foundation's work improving health education and employability by sharing academic expertise and helping evaluate the impact of various existing programmes.

Facilities

• Fulham have been using the University's Tolworth Sports Ground for temporary training pitches and to run community football workshops for children.
