Kingston University is working with Fulham Football Club on a range of sport and education initiatives. The partnership offers benefits for both parties, with the club tapping into academic expertise while offering a range of opportunities for the University's students and staff.
Student projects
Sport journalism students have visited Fulham to practise their reporting skills and interview techniques, including interviewing England international midfielder, Scott Parker.
Internship opportunities for students from fields as diverse as computer science, business and marketing.
Training and courses
Staff at Fulham have been encouraged to take advantage of tailored management and personal development training opportunities at Kingston Business School.
We have partnered in the launch of a new sports coaching foundation degree. This course will act as a progression opportunity for young people doing coaching qualifications with the Fulham Football Club Foundation, and in turn they will offer placement opportunities to students.
Research and community
We are working with The Fulham Foundation, Fulham FC's community sports charity, on a pilot AccessHE programme, using football to raise awareness of all the benefits a degree has to offer youngsters who come from families with no previous experience of university education.
University researchers support the foundation's work improving health education and employability by sharing academic expertise and helping evaluate the impact of various existing programmes.
Facilities
Fulham have been using the University's Tolworth Sports Ground for temporary training pitches and to run community football workshops for children.
