About

I am an experienced educator across the primary, secondary, and higher education sectors and have worked in education in schools and universities in the United States, the UK and Australia. I joined Kingston University in 2005 and am currently senior lecturer in Educational Technologies in the School of Education and specialise in the application of learning technologies across a wide range of educational contexts including primary, secondary and higher education.  I am the Programme Director for the Masters of Research (Education) and I teach across a range of courses including our BA(Hons) Primary Teaching, PGCE Primary Teaching, and Masters programmes, and have personally supervised more than 40 Masters dissertations to successful completion over the last 10 years. Over the last few years I have also held wider leadership roles in the HSCE faculty as Faculty Education Lead and in the School of Education as Learning, Teaching and Assessment Lead Tutor.

Research

My research interests include examination of the ways in which educational technologies can support and enhance pedagogy across primary, secondary and higher education.  In recent years I have focused on the relationship between teacher and student autonomy and successful use of online learning tools, and also how simulation can impact on medical education.  I have also consulted on educational research methods for professional practice in a number of professional settings.
