I am a Senior Policy Advisor, Certified Non-Executive Director (CNED), holder of the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing, CFA Charter Holder, educator and published author.
I have worked for more than 25 years across global capital markets with a special focus on EMEA, holding various leading roles with USAID, EBRD, AfDB, Central Bank of Egypt, S&P Global and KPMG Corporate Finance. Some of the financial markets & institutions I covered include: Brazil, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Morocco, Jordan, Tunisia, Yemen.
I am a passionate finance & fintech academic & before joining KBS, I held various senior academic roles including Director of the Full Time MBA at Cranfield School of Management, Senior Lecturer in Finance at De Montfort University (DMU) and visiting professor at ESCP, Cambridge Judge Business School and the American University in Cairo.
I was the recipient of the Cass Business School bursary award and received my PhD degree from Cass in 2012, with a dissertation on Early Warning Signals for Financial Crises.
I published a book in 2010 entitled An Anatomy of the Financial Crisis, Blowing Tumbleweed.
I am a FHEA, an active Chevening Scholar, receiving my MSc in Finance from London Business School, and obtained my BA in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
As a member of the CFA UK Society, the UK IoD and various public policy fora I am engaging in helping shape financial sector policies & practices.
I currently hold a number of impactful board roles including non-executive director & board member, chair of the audit committee at Sandah Microfinance (founded by KfW & AAIB) and non-executive director and board member of the Egyptian Factoring Company (a subsidiary of Egypt's Export Development Bank). I speak French, English and Arabic.
