Teaching and learning

My main teaching at Kingston School of Art is within the 1st year of the Illustration Animation Course where im the module leader for the Process Modules focussing on introductory one day workshops and group workshops into the various processes that are involved within illustration animation practices including Life Drawing, Print Making, Animation, Book Binding, Reportage drawing etc.  I am also a personal Tutor to a number of 1st year students helping them settle into university life.

Within the module I lead my own animation workshops that are introductions to 2D animation processes to help students on there animation journeys where they can take the techniques introduced into whichever process of animation they choose and to bring confidence to there longer form animation focussed projects.

I also run a Film Night within the university every month which is an informal get together for any illustration animation students across the three years.  Myself and other animation focussed colleagues curate a screening of short animated films without any particular theme but a focus of showing various techniques, different ways of story telling and experimental approaches to animation.  The night because of its informal approach encourages students to meet fellow peers from different year groups and hopefully inspire them with the varied possibilities of what can be made within animation.

I have been leading one day animation workshops internationally for education institutions, studio professionals and community lead classes which have been more associated with my own practice focussing on straight ahead animation and automatic writing techniques.
