About

I am a photographer originally from San Francisco with South American roots. Through my teaching, research and professional practice, I have an interest in challenging systemic values and social constructs. In my personal work, I utilize documentary approaches and storytelling. I layer my photography with interviews, poems, archival imagery, and interventions. I seek to create space for personal therapeutic processes while dismantling and exploring ideas surrounding immigration, connection, family dynamics, and identity.  

In 2014, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors degree in Photography and Imaging from New York University. In 2021, I graduated with a Master's Distinction degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from London College of Communication.

Recently, I was shortlisted for the 2022 Photoboox book Award, the Jerwood/Photoworks Award, and the Royal Photographic Society's International Exhibition 163. In 2021, I was also shortlisted for Images Vevey Book Award, Then and Now in America grant by British Journal of Photography, and the Belfast Photo Festival. In 2020, my Children of Immigrants project won the British Journal of Photography Open Walls award and was exhibited at Galerie Unit Arles in France. 

My ongoing personal project, Children of Immigrants, was published in The New York Times, which explores the community that is labeled children of immigrants in the United States and UK. Since 2016, the project has been exhibited in the New Americans Museum in San Diego, California. In 2014, this work was exhibited at the United Nations' ENVISION program called: "Youth Voices: Promoting Tolerance through Storytelling". 

My freelance photography selected clients: The New York Times, Financial Times, Die Zeit, NRC Handelsblad, British Journal of Photography, BAFTA, BBC, The Guardian, Refinery29, Cartier, Time Out, Crónica Global. I have also worked as a picture editor for BAFTA and Comic Relief.
