Kingston University has a long-standing reputation for educating some of London's best midwives. Midwifery is taught at the Kingston Hill campus. It is taught by leaders in the field who regularly contribute to research, particularly in the care of the mother or birthing person and child, before, during and after pregnancy.
Our teaching has an extensive focus on practical skills development, in partnership with local NHS Trusts, to ensure graduates are fully equipped and competent to practice as autonomous midwives when they register.
Our midwifery staff play an important role in shaping the midwives of today and tomorrow.
We are No.1 in London and No.6 in the UK for Nursing and Midwifery (Guardian University Guide 2022).
We have excellent relationships with our practice partners in London, Surrey and the south of England. Practice partners are supported by our dedicated link liaison lecturers.
We offer a variety of workforce development study opportunities to support midwives learning and career progression.
Our Kingston Hill campus offers modern and well-equipped facilities where students can practise within a safe environment. Our new simulation suite houses all the equipment needed to develop clinical practice skills.
This versatile space can be used for simulated home settings or a delivery suite setting. It also has a range of equipment, including a birthing pool, birthing mattresses, manikins, resuscitaires and exercise balls for students to learn with.
